About JP Edit
Jim Parks has been editing video since 1984 and almost exclusively on Avid® systems (Media Composer, Symphony, Xpress, Xpress Pro, Xpress DV) since 1995. He also employs Final Cut Pro® and has it and Media Composer 5 on a laptop for mobile post production, as well as Squeeze® for compression and encoding. Before going independent, he edited linearly at two Chicago area production houses and a corporate facility. He has edited broadcast and all manner of corporate programs, spots, and documentaries, working as skillfully unsupervised as with a producer/director at his side. His clients trust in his ability to “produce” an edit and have, at times, assigned him projects without a producer. Jim can do multi-layered effects, and also appreciates a well-placed cut or dissolve. As a musician and composer, he especially enjoys editing to and with music. Extensive Photoshop® experience rounds out Jim’s skill set.
Clients have included Sears Holdings Corp. (Sears and Kmart), Q Center (formerly Arthur Andersen), Accenture, the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), the American Academy of Pedatrics, Miller Brewing, Ganté Films, Ltd., Chicago a cappella and Square D Company. Jim’s programs have won numerous Aurora, Telly, and Religion Communicators Council awards.
Through solicited and unsolicited feedback, Jim has learned that his clients appreciate his creative suggestions, editing speed, listening skills, honestly expressed opinions, ownership of their projects, and uncommonly good spelling. He would like to bring that package to your next editing project.
